Being Mindful of Mindfulness

When is it we become mindful, the most?

...Is it when we see an infant, fresh from birth;
or realize someone we cared about, even once upon a time, has died?

...Is it in the most meaningful gifts we're given;
or when we lose something we hadn't realized meant so much to us?

...In those life-affirming moments of deep gratitude;
perhaps in faith, or not?

...In those sacrifices which forever change us, and our lives, in unexpected ways?

...In quiet moments of simple, natural splendor;
or witnessing nature at its wildest and most destructive?

...Humans at their best? At their worst?

...At our best? At our worst?

...When for some reason we're forced to witness our own, fragile mortality?

When do we really pay attention?
When do we really figure out what is important and not only want to change, but do?
When does it all start to matter to us, enough?

Just wondering.

      Better days ahead, my friends!
